Prayer and Praise Week of 08/07/11
Posted in Prayer Requests | No Comments »Hello all!! Hope your weeks are going well!
Praise
1. Chuck Pope’s brother who just recently moved back to the states has already gotten a job! Praise the Lord! He’s also closing on a house! We certainly serve a God who provides!
2. Melanie’s uncle, who was suffering with respiratory distress in the ICU has now come home!! Pray that her aunt will have the strength to provide care for him at home. She is a nurse, but we all know that caring for family members can be a difficult task
Prayer
There were no prayer requests by any individuals this week (odd), but I guess that can be a good thing! So, we can pray corporately for:
- The persecuted church. We can do this as a way to stir up our compassion for our brothers and sisters who are suffering abroad.
- We were challenged through the Word this week to be hopsitable, compassionate, pure in our love, and content with what we have. Pray that the Lord will help you develop or strengthen these characteristics!
- Pray you will have opportunities to Speak the Word and to live consistently as our spiritual forefathers did!!
- How can we speak the Word if we don’t hide it in our hearts? Brett Bacon is coming the next few weeks to teach on the fruits of the spirit. Let’s be prepared by studying Galations 5, and maybe, memorizing some of it!
- Pray we will be willing to sacrifice ourselves, our praise, and our possessions. This is tough!!
Last thoughts
From “My Utmost for His Highest” this morning:
- “There are times when there is no illumination and no thrill [in the Christian walk], but just the daily round, the common task. Routine is God’s way of saving us between our times of inspiration. Do not expect God always to give you His thrilling minutes, but learn to live in the domain of drudgery by the power of God.”
— That’s a kick in the pants!! I hate routine!! But, I do understand that when we live consistently, with some routine to our walk, that our faithfulness shines bright and Christ can work through that! Teach me, Lord, not to trade the eternal benefit of walking with You daily for the temporal benefit of more free time!
Love you all,
