Prayer and Praise Week of 08/07/11

Posted in Prayer Requests | No Comments »

Hello all!! Hope your weeks are going well!

Praise
1. Chuck Pope’s brother who just recently moved back to the states has already gotten a job! Praise the Lord! He’s also closing on a house! We certainly serve a God who provides!

2. Melanie’s uncle, who was suffering with respiratory distress in the ICU has now come home!! Pray that her aunt will have the strength to provide care for him at home. She is a nurse, but we all know that caring for family members can be a difficult task :)

Prayer

There were no prayer requests by any individuals this week (odd), but I guess that can be a good thing! So, we can pray corporately for:
- The persecuted church. We can do this as a way to stir up our compassion for our brothers and sisters who are suffering abroad.
- We were challenged through the Word this week to be hopsitable, compassionate, pure in our love, and content with what we have. Pray that the Lord will help you develop or strengthen these characteristics!
- Pray you will have opportunities to Speak the Word and to live consistently as our spiritual forefathers did!!
- How can we speak the Word if we don’t hide it in our hearts? Brett Bacon is coming the next few weeks to teach on the fruits of the spirit. Let’s be prepared by studying Galations 5, and maybe, memorizing some of it!
- Pray we will be willing to sacrifice ourselves, our praise, and our possessions. This is tough!!

Last thoughts
From “My Utmost for His Highest” this morning:
- “There are times when there is no illumination and no thrill [in the Christian walk], but just the daily round, the common task. Routine is God’s way of saving us between our times of inspiration. Do not expect God always to give you His thrilling minutes, but learn to live in the domain of drudgery by the power of God.”
— That’s a kick in the pants!! I hate routine!! But, I do understand that when we live consistently, with some routine to our walk, that our faithfulness shines bright and Christ can work through that! Teach me, Lord, not to trade the eternal benefit of walking with You daily for the temporal benefit of more free time!

Love you all,
Magean

Prayer and Praise- Week of June 26

Hello all! Hope your week is going well and that you’re finding time to spend with our Great High Priest!! Great story: today, I was rushing out the door (work has been INSANE), and feeling very annoyed because I desperately NEEDED to stop and spend some time with Jesus! I hastily grabbed my “Respectable Sins” book and said, “ok, Lord, You’re going to have to MAKE time for me to spend with You today.” I left for work in my usual hurry. When I arrived at the office at 8:00, the door was locked and I had no key. (Normally, someone is there by 8:00, but not today!) So, I sat down and got to spend time with HIM for half an hour before anyone with a key arrived! He truly knows exactly what we need and how to provide for it, if only we ask!

Speaking of providing:
Praise the Lord…Allison and Elizabeth are back safely and now have their luggage!

Angela, from what I hear, has settled in well to her new job, learning a lot!

Emily has officially received her offer!

Speaking of asking:
Emily still needs guidance in how to best transition from her current job to a new one.

Brendan Keener, along with others from our church, are in India…pray for protection, provision, and divine appointments!

Robin has a wonderful opportunity to present her art to some people from Starbucks corporate in July. Pray that the Lord leads her in ther right direction with her presentation and for the right doors to open for her to express her God-given talents!

Katy’s mom had an irregular EKG and is going to be seeing a specialist soon. Pray for the peace that surpasses all understanding to be hers! Also, pray that the Lord directs her physicians and her care…there’s no healing without HIM! Pray that whatever stress the family is under is relieved by the One who asks us for our burdens!

Love you all!! Please let me know updates/other requests! My email is methompson2@gmail.com!

Prayer and Praise– Week of June 19

Posted in Prayer Requests | No Comments »

Hey Roadies! It was so great to be in class with you on Sunday!! Here’s some praise reports and prayer requests:

Praise:

The China team is back safely and had a wonderful time! Many seeds were planted…now just pray the sweet Holy Spirit will come along and water them!

Jill’s stepmom had her baby! The delivery went smoothly and everyone is doing just fine! Praise the Lord for new life!

Emily should be receiving a new job offer soon! Pray for wisdom and direction on how to let go/leave her current job and for peace in doing so.

Prayer:

1. Allison and Elizabeth Wong are in Turkey. Elizabeth hasn’t been feeling well– pray foro healing and strength so they can do what the Lord has called them to do there!

2. Whitney’s grandmother passed away last Wednesday. Pray for the family as they walk through all the “paperwork” involved. Pray for comfort and healing during this time.

3. Rachel has an interview today (Tuesday) with Irving ISD for a secretarial position. Pray for the right doors to be open and the wisdom to walk through them!

4. Angela is moving to Houston this weekend :( Bittersweet. Pray the Lord will go before and behind her to smooth out her path. Pray that her car situation works out well!!

5. Melanie’s brother has been granted temporary custody of her niece until the trial (3 weeks from now). Pray for peace in the family and that the little girl will not suffer because of the issues in the family. We pray she feels loved and secure and that Melanie’s brother will be granted full custody of her as she is safer with him than her mom.

6. We had two new guests with us on Sunday- Adam and Preston. We pray the Lord will direct them to the right church for them (even if it isn’t here with us…though we hope it is!).

We all have a lot going on in our lives. It is my prayer that we will seek Him and His kingdom first and foremost, and let all that other stuff fall into place behind it! Love you and I’ll see you Thursday for brownies and ice cream after Bible study to celebrate Angela’s new road!!

1. Chuck Pope– leaving for China (left Monday).  Requests prayer for the China team for unity, divine appointments, and for the Gospel to spread.  Also, pray that his knee cooperates and that the plane ride goes smoothly!
2. Whitney– Whitney’s friend, Elizabeth, has a grandmother in the ICU, and the family is experiencing some difficulty dealing with the hospitalization and other issues.  Pray for healing for grandmother and healing for the family!  Whitney has been feeling burdened recently and she’s not really sure why.  Pray for clarity and for the Lord to reveal His heart to her as she seeks His face and leans into Him for direction!
3. Robin– Both a prayer and praise: her car was totalled in the hail storms a few weeks ago.  The insurance company is giving her $8,000 and she would like to raise $4,000 more toward the purchase of a new car so she won’t have a car payment.  She’s praying for the right car that will allow her to carry her art!
4. Beth– Her 87 year-old grandmother experienced a fall last Friday and is in the hospital in Houston.  Pray for healing for her and for clarity for the physicians and caregivers as to what caused the fall so it might be treated/corrected to prevent future injuries.  Beth’s boyfriend takes a certification exam this week and he needs to do well!
5. Brent– Praise: although his mom was diagnosed with ovarian cancer last summer, she has done well with her treatments and, as of 3 months ago, her tumor markers (labs) were in the normal range!  Prayer: she had a doctor’s appointment today (Monday) to find out most recent test results.  Pray for comfort and peace, safety for travels.
6. Sarah– VERY busy summer!  She won’t be with the road many Sundays this summer, so remember to keep her in your prayers and to try to fellowship during the week with her!  She’s taking a certification test for counseling on June 25th, and there may be an opening for a counselor in her district next year.  Pray for the right doors to open and for the certification exam to go well!
7. Emily– pray the Lord continues to provide in her current job while she seeks His will for the possibility of a new job.  Pray for clarity and direction.
8. Jonathan– while being off from work this summer, he’s going to have free time on his hands!  Pray that the Lord would provide rest, fellowship, and direction for the best way to invest his time this summer.
